A WOMAN was allegedly assaulted by a man driving a float while she watched the St Neots Carnival.

The incident is believed to have taken place at about 4pm on Saturday, August 26, as the carnival procession was led through St Neots High Street.

Police said a man is believed to have leapt from a lorry he was driving and attacked a woman watching the parade. The incident is believed to have lasted for about five minutes before the driver returned.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: "We are investigating the incident and appeal for the woman involved to come forward."
