A NEW police helicopter was launched in Huntingdon yesterday (Tuesday) by Cambridgeshire police.
The MD902 Explorer is fully operational, working across the county and with police in Essex and Suffolk.
The new aircraft, which can carry up to eight people, can fly for around two hours without having to refuel.
The extra capacity will also be useful in supporting medics emergency teams from MAGPAS.
The £3.9million helicopter contains advanced technology, a searchlight, a public address system and digital video recorders.
It also has a computer mapping system and a camera with thermal imaging equipment linked to the force control room.
