HUNTS Post readers are still showing their support for the Alconbury mother who lost her teenage son in a car accident.

Warren Hay, 16, died in May 2007 after being hit by a car as he crossed the A141 in Huntingdon on his way to Jubilee Park.

Since his death, his mother Maxine has been campaigning and fundraising for improvements at the junction and a safe path to the playing fields.

Her latest fundraising drive has seen her call-on businesses and individuals to help raise the 30,000 shortfall in the cost of building a footpath.

This appeal was carried in The Hunts Post, earlier this month and has already seen one generous reader donate a cheque for 300.

Mrs Hay, of Robin Terrace, said: "For one person to contribute that amount of money is just fantastic - I would like to thank this woman from the bottom of my heart.

"News fades away but Warren and the safety of youngsters making their way to Jubilee Park seems to have remained at the forefront of people's minds."

Fundraisers, headed by Mrs Hay, are more than halfway towards the 67,000 cost of the footpath that would link a new 400,000 light-controlled crossing at the A141 Kings Ripton Road junction.
