RAF Wyton has become the new base for the air ambulance covering Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance service visited Wyton to finalise the plans to base a Bolkow 117 DBS helicopter there.

The helicopter begins service this month and the crew will be able to reach any casualties in the area within 16 minutes and get patients to hospital within the "golden hour".

There will be three crew members on board - two fully trained NHS paramedics and a pilot - along with the vital equipment necessary to save lives.
