LABOUR'S party agent for Huntingdonshire has thrown his hat into the ring as a candidate for the Cambridgeshire County Council and Huntingdonshire District Council seats left vacant by the death of John Eddy last month.

Richard Allen, 46, of Tenterleas, St Ives, will contest the Somersham and Earith division on the county council in a three-way fight between the main political parties.

As reported in The Hunts Post last week, the Tories are fielding Steve Criswell, from Somersham, with Tony Hulme for the Liberal Democrats.

The district council poll for the Earith ward will also be a three-cornered fight, with Mr Allen pitting himself against the Lib Dems' Joy James and the Tories' Philip Godfrey.

Polling stations for the elections on Thursday, October 12, will be at New Hall, Bluntisham, and in village halls at Broughton, Colne, Earith, Old Hurst, Pidley, Somersham and Woodhurst.
