The A14 will be closed for two nights between Godmanchester and Girton for a bridge to be installed as part of the Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme.

The temporary bridge at Swavesey will allow works traffic for the £1.5 billion project to access the site without having to disrupt drivers using the A14.

The A14 will be closed between 9pm and 5am on the nights of Wednesday and Thursday, August 30-31.

The road will be closed between junctions 24 (Godmanchester) and 31 (Girton interchange). Drivers heading southbound will take the A1198 to Caxton Gibbet, then the A428 to re-join the A14, while traffic heading northbound will follow this route in reverse.

Local traffic will still be able to continue eastbound on the A14 to reach junction 27 (Fenstanton) and exit, at which point the A14 will be closed. Similarly local traffic heading westbound will still be able to reach junction 28 (Swavesey) and exit, with the bridge being installed between the two junctions.
