MAY I express my concerns at the growing congestion caused each evening at the junction of London Road and the A14, to the south of St Ives.

While the Low Road is closed for the repair of White Bridge, the traffic using junction 26 to leave the A14 is naturally increased, but the main cause of congestion appears to be people stopping to allow traffic leaving St Ives for the A14 to cross the traffic heading into St Ives.

While the courtesy of drivers is usually to be applauded, I wonder if these people, who let three or four cars though each time, realise the danger they are causing to traffic queuing on the A14.

I am sure it is only a matter of time before a major accident is caused due to traffic joining the back of the queue on such a busy and heavily-populated road.

I realise that traffic leaving St Ives may find it frustrating waiting for a suitable gap in traffic to come along, but surely queues back into St Ives are much safer than those that currently start on the A14.
