THE parochial church council and parishioners are very grateful for a grant provided by the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme, which has enabled the church to have its electrical system uprated and rewired, enabling more heaters to be used safely in the cold winter months.
This scheme is administered by the Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust by 'WREN' (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd), whose operating company, Waste Recycling Group plc, provides grants to churches located near its landfill sites, enabling urgent fabric repairs to be carried out throughout Cambridgeshire.
Every time waste is tipped at a landfill site, the disposer pays a landfill tax to the operator. The churches scheme is one of several operated by WREN, using this money to benefit communities in the locality of their operating company.
