COMMUNITY wardens in Ramsey are working to bring some Christmas cheer to people living alone in the area by providing seasonal hampers.

Employees at the Ramsey community information centre have been overwhelmed with donations from the public, from Christmas puddings to sweets and toiletries.

Huntingdonshire district councillor Deborah Reynolds, who is responsible for community initiatives, said: "This is a lovely idea and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time and effort to donate items for the hampers. People have been very generous and all items will go to a good home."

Julie Butcher, community information centre manager, added: "We are committed to helping our local community and it is even more important to do so at this special time of year."

The hampers are being boxed up and distributed by the community warden to older and more vulnerable people in the Ramsey area.

INFORMATION: Anyone wishing to donate food or other gifts to the centre can contact the Ramsey community information centre on 01487 815213.
