MAGPAS has received £1,000 from The Luminus Group, the parent company of Huntingdonshire Housing Partnership - enough money to buy one of the lifesaving kit bags used by Community First Responders. The money was raised when employees took part in a Christmas raffle at the Huntingdon-based company. Luminus then matched the amount raised. Emergency doctor service Magpas has set up 24 Community First Responder Groups across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, involving more than 250 volunteers. Each group is trained specifically to deal with medical emergencies. The aim of the scheme is to get treatment to patients at the scene as soon as possible and it has saved numerous lives. Magpas, the charity founded 30 years ago as the Mid Anglia GP Accident Service, has teams of doctors and paramedics which attend road accidents and other emergencies. It is funded entirely by public donation. INFORMATION: To donate to Magpas, contact 01480 371062.
