For the fourth year in a row, those who teach the company leaders, artists, counsellors and teachers of the future were recognised at The Hunts Post Huntingdonshire Business Awards.

Huntingdonshire Regional College demonstrated how the whole of the team at the college, in Huntingdon, go above and beyond their roles as educators.

The judges at the 2016 awards said that the team boasted a 'can-do' attitude which was backed up with a desire to achieve excellence.

The panel added: “Once again the regional college have demonstrated just how committed to improving Huntingdonshire they are, with a variety of initiatives that help the students, college and business community alike.

The team are fired up with ideas and a can do attitude, backed up with commercial acumen and a desire to achieve excellence.”

Following the college's win, it announced a proposed merger with Cambridge Regional College which could see it dissolve to become Cambridge Regional College – Huntingdon campus.

And last week (August 1) saw the college open under is new name with students soon being given the opportunity to benefit from £750,000 of investment into IT, social spaces and guidance on employment and college life.

Mark Robertson, Cambridge Regional College principal, said: “This is a very exciting time for education in the region.

“Merging the two colleges into one strong college with two campuses will bring benefits for students, staff, employers and the community, delivering high quality education and skills training.”

The Business in the Community Award is open to any commercial business that contributed to the environment, community and society.

From each entrant the judges will be looking for:

What environmental, social or economic projects is your company involved in and why?

Details of your strategy including logistics, funding and organisational challenges.

Information of the contribution the project has made to the environment or community.

A summary of the projects future or explain how current projects require continuous support.
