GREEN DREAM: Young Cambridgeshire golfers looking to become the next Tiger Woods can now take an NVQ qualification based around the sport.
The advanced apprenticeship in sporting excellence course has been set up as partnership between Wyboston Lakes Golf Centre and the College of West Anglia, which has campuses in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
The programme is aimed at 16 to 18-year-olds who have a handicap of less than five (for boys) and 10 (for girls).
As well as getting practical advice with their golf from professional players, students will be taught sport science, psychology, nutrition and biomechanical screening.
Paul Ashwell, head professional at Wyboston Lakes and the England Under 18 lead coach, will oversee the course.
He said: "This will provide talented young local players with the type of support that national squad players enjoy, while providing valuable academic qualifications."
