HEAVY rain in Huntingdon didn't dampen the party spirit on Saturday, as people celebrated 15 years of the Oxmoor Community Action Group.
Members of the community joined together to celebrate the milestone with the group who have worked tirelessly to improve the life of local residents.
Jill Watkin-Taverner, chairman of OCAG, said: "It was very good and the people and exhibitors were very glad that the event took place. The sun came out in the afternoon, but it had unfortunately poured with rain early on. Despite that, we got a lot of people coming through."
OCAG has been responsible for many changes in Oxmoor.
Mrs Watkin-Taverner said: "We sealed the bid on the single regeneration budget, which allowed the redevelopment of Sapley Square, the Oak Centre and the Maple Centre We now get involved with issues that the community feel need attention, such as parking and anti-social behaviour."
The group's next big project is Moor in Bloom, the community's entry in the Anglia in Bloom. Its entry has also been shortlisted in the national competition, Britain in Bloom.
"This competition isn't just about flowers," said Mrs Watkin-Taverner. "We have not just been working on the streets but in the parks, community and residential gardens and the allotments. Lots of people are taking part, including all the local schools.
"This is all about showing Oxmoor as it really is, not the stigma that is attached to it.
