JONNIE Peacock has confirmed his arrival on the biggest stage of all in stunning fashion tonight in the Olympic stadium.

It was going to take something special from the Cambridgeshire athlete to overcome Oscar Pistorius, Alan Oliveria, Jerome Singleton and a host of other athletes and that something special he delivered.

After a false start and having to ask the crowd to be quiet Jonnie blitzed the track and won the gold medal in a time of 10.90 seconds only point five outside his world record. He got a fantastic start and drove further than the rest of the field and that set the tone and he just relaxed the rest of the way across the line. The entire stadium erupted and on his lap of honour the entire stadium stood to applaud.

In his interview he thanked his family friends and BT who helped sponsor him as well as his coach Dan Phaff. He told Channel 4 that he should have run quicker at least another three tenths of a second.

He had the biggest smile on his face and should hopefully look forward to a heroes welcome when he gets back to Huntingdon.

The whole county should be very very very proud of its son Jonnie Peacock.
