KIMBOLTON has become the third Huntingdonshire village in four weeks to have set up a 'no cold caller' area.
The initiative, which is part of a crackdown on distraction burglaries by Cambridgeshire Police, was launched in 2002 in partnership with Trading Standards.
The scheme has now extended to Kimbolton where officers and workers from the Luminus group placed 'no cold call' signs in Stow Road and Hunters Way.
Pc Phil Carpenter, of the community safety department, said: "The no cold call initiative is about warning elderly and vulnerable residents about the dangers of cold calling, and how to avoid them.
"We have already seen a noticeable difference in areas that have already adopted the scheme across Huntingdonshire.
"Elderly and more vulnerable residents often feel intimidated and distressed when callers arrive unexpectedly and attempt to sell them goods or services."
Officers also visited Great Staughton to hand out distraction burglary packs and crime prevention advice to elderly residents in the village. They also plan to install no cold caller signs in the next few weeks.
The launch follows on from awareness days held in Huntingdon and Buckden and the installation of 'no cold caller' areas in Fenstanton and Warboys in the past few weeks.
