FUNDING to the value of £27,000 for the training and development of youth workers has been gained by Cambridgeshire County Council from the Government scheme, Young Lives.
The cash will be used to train volunteers who work with young people on activities ranging from youth clubs to youth parliament.
The money will pay for 60 extra places on the council's youth work training course, the development of a course to link youth work and sport, and a distance learning project to make materials available over the internet - allowing anywhere, anytime access to basic training.
There will also be new courses in child protection for designated child protection personnel and one for the safe recruitment of staff and volunteers.
