PUPILS of St Anne's and Godmanchester Community Primary Schools have transformed part of an old dilapidated nursery into an orchard.
The children planted varieties of apple trees, local to the Huntingdon area with names such as Histon Favourite and Thoday's Quarrenden.
The project, supported by Huntingdonshire District Council, also boasts an allotment area with vegetables and herbs.
Nursery project officer Mary Evans said: "The nursery has plenty of green space with the potential to be a beautiful site for local communities and school children to get involved and learn about plants, vegetables and healthy eating."
The nursery is owned by the district council and was originally used to grow plants and trees for the council's parks service.
The nursery became derelict for a number of years but it is now hoped to restore it into its former glory.
