THE Cambridgeshire countryside will be open for business as usual for anyone planning a visit this weekend, the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) has stressed.
Robert Sears, chairman of the Cambridgshire branch, said: "The restrictions affect birds and bird movements only. But in any case, here in Cambridgeshire we are about as far within the region as we can get from the protection zones around the infected premises in Suffolk.
"We have just enjoyed a particularly lovely weekend and we hope people did not cancel their plans but went out into our countryside and enjoyed it - and will continue to do so. Our downland, woods, the Fen waterways are miles from the scene of the outbreak in east Suffolk.
"But we emphasise that the restrictions apply to birds and not to human beings."
He added: "The countryside is not closed and we ask the public to support the rural economy by carrying on as normal.
