LINKS are being developed between Abbey College in Ramsey and Turbine Motor Works (TMW) Ltd after the firm moved onto a site on nearby RAF Upwood.
The company, which services and overhauls aircraft engines and other equipment for many major airlines, has an apprenticeship scheme and has already recruited from the school.
Neil Tomlinson, TMW's training manager, has also visited the school to talk to science students about the theory of flight and the basics of aircraft propulsion systems.
Pupil Helen Ayres, 17, who is taking physics, maths, chemistry and French at A-level, said: "This is an area of science that we don't get a chance to look at in great detail as part of the syllabus.
"As I am hoping to go on to study aeronautical engineering at university, this was a wonderful opportunity for me to ask questions from an expert."
Charles Dalleywater, specialist manager at Abbey College, said: "This is a hugely valuable link and what being a technology college is all about."
Mr Tomlinson added: "We are delighted to be developing close links with the college, it was good to talk to such an interested group of students.
