ST PETER'S School in Huntingdon did not close because of the snow on Thursday, February 8. Up to 99 per cent of the teachers were present that day. But they closed the school because the pupil head count was low and it wouldn't have looked good on them for the number of pupil absences they had that day. So, to cover themselves, they closed the school.
But well done to the headteachers at Huntingdon Infant and Junior Schools in Ambury Road which are positioned opposite St Peter's School. They did not close even though their pupil head count was low as well. I also have two children who attend these schools, as well as one child who attends St Peter's.
St Peter's can't use the excuse that their teachers come from a great distance because the teachers at Infants and Juniors do also.
My children's education is very important to me, and all those children who bothered to turn up at St Peter's that day were denied their education, especially when one of my children is studying for his GCSEs.
I'm sure I am not the only parent who feels like this.
