WHEN it comes to brewing and growing, Melvyn Ashley has to be your man.
The 67-year-old gained the most points in show at the Warboys Horticultural and Craft Show on Saturday - his eighth time for this achievement.
At the weekend, he won seven categories at the event, including best beer, lager or cider, and the heaviest crop of potatoes grown from a single potato.
Mr Ashley, who lives in the village, has been entering the show every year since 1990
"I've been gardening ever since I had my first garden and I have an allotment now, too," he told The Hunts Post. "This year wasn't my best year, we were a bit disappointed with the potatoes and carrots, but that's how it is sometimes."
He added: "It makes you feel nice just to win any category, but winning the most points overall is even better."
The show was held at Warboys Parish Centre, attracting 300 visitors, and a host of professional judges to award the prizes.
It also helped raise money for Working on Warboys (WOW) Christmas Lighting Appeal.
The children's overall winner was Holly Whincup.
