THIS year's Free Folk Day at the Red Lion in Whittlesford was a fantastic day of music.
Picture the rooms of a 13th century pub filled with an array of musicians - bodhran players accompanied by acoustic guitars, flutes and fiddles in an continuous jam session for much of the afternoon.
In another room, there was a round-the-room singing session with more guitars and many impressive unaccompanied singers. Outside in the garden, the marquee hosted a four-hour open mic session which saw great acts including Non Smith, Richard Wells and Martin Kaszak. Above all else, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed.
