IMPROVEMENT of play areas and cemeteries is high on the agenda for one of St Neots Town Council's newest recruits.

Gavin Clark, 31, of Hardwick Road, Eynesbury, took up his new post as head of leisure and amenities at St Neots Town Council last week.

On his first day he was filled in on the details of the town's £1million gift from Lord of the Manor. Peter Rowley, and the possible options for spending the money.

Mr Clark, who has lived in St Neots all his life and plays for Eynesbury Rovers FC, told The Hunts Post: "It is really exciting and the town is about to embark on a major expansion. To be part of providing a pool or cinema in St Neots would be fantastic. I would love to play a central role on what develops in the town."

He was previously employed as a senior officer with Go East, the Government office for the East of England based in Cambridge. In his new role at the St Neots Town Council he will be responsible for the strategic management of a portfolio of council services, from everything to play areas to cemeteries.

He added: "The main thing I would like to tackle is improvements to some of the town's play areas. I would also like to look at promotion and advertising to make sure everyone in St Neots is aware of all the things on offer in the town."
