TWO prisoners were taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, on Monday, with neck and spinal injuries after their van was involved in a crash.
The collision between the white Mercedes prison van and a blue Iveco van happened on the A14 westbound carriageway at Hemingford Grey at 9.15am.
Both prisoners, who were being transferred to Peterborough Prison, were taken to hospital where their condition was described as stable.
Magpas spokesman Christian Morris said: "The patients' injuries were not life-threatening, but where potential spinal injuries are concerned it is vital to get the right diagnosis and care at the scene."
Two prison officers and the driver of the Iveco van were said to have suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Dr Anne Booth and paramedic Barry Hart, both from emergency doctor service Magpas, attended the scene of the crash and gave emergency medical treatment to the prisoners.
