Daniel Flay is an original singer-songwriter of exceptional promise, widely tipped to reach greater acclaim, and even in the intimate surroundings of a local pub where the conversations of audience members occasionally drowned out his music, it's not hard to see why.
Although I suspect that playing covers would be far from his priority, Flay's almost deadpan presence fitted comfortably with the choice of material and he never appeared to be anything but in complete control, a sure sign of an artist who could easily cope with the bigger things expected of him.
