AS an HGV driver for 40 years I would like to say a fond farewell to all the staff at the Alconbury Truckstop, who have served us well for so many years.
This Truckstop closed on August 31, and to all of us who have used this facility since it opened it will be sadly missed as this has been a home-from-home for thousands of drivers over the years.
I would, however, urge all local people to lobby for this park to reopen at sometime in the future and not become just more unwanted industrial units. There are many unused units already. Please lobby your MP, local council and the police to oppose any change of use for the site. This facility keeps us safe and away from unsafe lay-bys. So I say thank you again to all the happy and friendly staff at Truckstop and wish you all the best for the future.
