I HAVE another simple solution to get people out of their cars.
If the Government truly wishes to ease congestion and encourage people to use public transport, then it should permit public transport vehicles to use red diesel.
By making buses exempt from the tax on fuel, the price of a ticket could drop dramatically.
If transport is dirt cheap then people will use it.
Of course, this will not apply to those less fortunate villages that have had their service slashed to a level where public transport is not viable.
