TWO of the area's MPs claimed almost identical amounts in Parliamentary expenses in 2006/07, with our newest MP claiming nearly £20,000 less.
Jonathan Djanogly, who succeeded Sir John Major as Huntingdon's MP in 2001, and Andrew Lansley, who represents South Cambridgeshire, both claimed £135,000 - mostly for office and staff costs and postage.
North West Cambridgeshire's MP, Shailesh Vara, who spent significantly less on those costs, claimed a total of £115,000.
Each of the MPs - all are on the Shadow front bench - claimed around £20,000 for expenses away from home.
Mr Djanogly claimed a total of £6,573 for travel, Mr Vara £5,659 and Mr Lansley £5,916. Of the three, Mr Vara drove most, Mr Djanogly used most public transport and only Mr Lansley claimed for air fares and travel in Europe.
