Huntingdonshire District Council is having another go at persuading its St Mary's Street neighbours and its own councillors to approve the design for 14 flats in what was until last year its Pathfinder House car park in Huntingdon. A previous design was thrown out because it looked too much like the office block originally envisaged for the site and because it was thought not to be in keeping with the conservation area or the Victorian terraces across the road (inset).
Richard Preston, HDC's project manager for the £16.5million headquarters replacement project, told The Hunts Post: "We have considered the representations made to the development control panel and the reasons for rejection of the previous design, and we think we have addressed all the issues by changing the treatment of the elevation facing onto St Mary's Street.
