I WORK next door to the Bargrove Centre in St Neots as a teaching assistant at Samuel Pepys special school.
I am also a link respite carer for young people with disabilities, aged two to 19. What better use for this already part-adapted building than as a respite home or centre?
There are young people whom I could not care for in my home, though their parents are desperate for a break. The alternatives in Huntingdonshire - in Huntingdon and St Ives - are generally too busy.
There is a desperate need for quality respite care centres, a need for holiday care and for safe places other than school for young people to go to.
There is also a desperate need for autistic centres.
The number of children living with autism has increased. These people are particularly difficult to care for in family homes.
They need somewhere safe and stimulating.
