Children at Buckden Primary School held a daffodil day to launch their campaign to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Next week, on the 60th anniversary of the charity, the children will take home daffodils they have grown with a request to their families for a donation to the charity.

The charity, which supplies nurses to look after people who are terminally ill, has a daffodil as its symbol.

The children planted 300 daffodil bulbs in the autumn (donated to the school by Homebase and Yellow Pages and delivered free to the school by Link). On their daffodil day, they drew and painted the daffodils.
