I RECENTLY campaigned for a seat on Huntingdonshire District Council on the theme that our Tory council does not listen to residents. Voters converted a Conservative majority of 273 votes in 2007 to a majority for me of 223. There is a lesson there.
The district council tells us it is "consulting" on a major plan to reshape the west of Huntingdon. Three options are provided: one involves leaving Huntingdonshire Regional College where it is.
The consultation ends on June 5, but on May 19 the Tory dominated Development Control Panel voted to move the college away from the centre of Huntingdon to Hinchingbrooke.
A clear case of "verdict first, evidence second".
It seems that the lesson has not been learnt.
