AMBITIOUS plans for a futuristic state-of-the-art business park near Huntingdon station have moved a step closer with a planning application for a temporary 325-space car park alongside the East Coast main line.
The developer, Fordham-based Landro Limited, already has planning consent for a futuristic office development around the 1930s water tower in Brampton Road on which it plans to start work next year. The work will take around 18 months.
In all, the company owns around four acres of land to the north-west of the railway station, including an underground reservoir that it wants to use as a source of cooling for a future office development to complement the style of the tower project.
The latest application aims to make use of land beside and beneath the A14 viaduct for much-needed edge-of-town-centre parking just across the railway from the proposed retail expansion of the town centre.
Once the viaduct is demolished, currently expected to be in 2015, Landro wants to use part of the land for further office development.
