The bolt struck during a storm at about 4.30pm on Sunday, September 7 and caused severe damage to the roof and loft space.
Three fire crews and a turntable ladder from Cambridge were called to the property, in the village's Darford. Firefighters used two hose reels and two jets to extinguish the blaze and managed to salvage some furniture from the property.
The injured man is understood to have attempted to tackle the blaze himself.
