Bill Hensley, station manager at Huntingdon Community Radio, talks about volunteers this month.

We have had some new volunteers joining us recently and this is good news because our members are the beating heart of our station and without them, well, there wouldn’t be a radio station!

So welcome Iain, Andy and Katy. Katy is joining the team on our local arts show Spotlight which is on air at 8pm every Friday.

Iain presents our Friday Late Show at 10pm, and Andy presents Drivetime on Wednesdays, from 5pm.

If you think you would like to join the HCR104fm family, then look for the 'Join Us' tab on the website as we are always looking out for new members.

We are extremely lucky to have a drama unit at the station, which goes under the name of Wavelengths Productions.

The team, headed by Sue Rodwell-Smith, produces some wonderful work and as with all our volunteers, each member of the team gives many hours of personal time.

The group’s main production is our award winning twice-weekly soap Huntsford. You can hear it at 10.25 on Tuesdays and Thursdays with repeats at 3.25 pm on those days.

An omnibus edition is included in our Sunday Supplement show on Sunday afternoons at 3.25pm. And if comedy’s your thing, then Ambleforth Manor, a monthly sitcom can be heard on the first Sunday of the month during Scribblers’ Hour.

Our community access programme Over to You continues to be well supported by local groups and we have guests booked up for months ahead.

The show is a window on the community and a big part of our service to you, the people of Huntingdonshire.

Our Charity of The Month for May is the Hunts Forum, which aims to encourage, support and develop community organisations to have a real influence in the communities they serve. Find out more at https://huntsforum.org.uk/ or HCR104fm’s website https://www.hcrfm.co.uk/
