Cambridgeshire Police officers were called to Sapley Square over reports of a man with a knife.
At around 7pm yesterday evening (April 30) the force attended the scene in Huntingdon, where they conducted a search of the area.
The man could not be located.
A spokesperson said: "We were called at about 7pm yesterday evening (30 April) with reports of a man with a knife in Sapley Square, Huntingdon.
"Officers attended and conducted a search of the area but the man could not be located.
"A crime has been raised and enquiries are ongoing."
