A Christmas Carol and other winter-themed stories were brought to life for pupils at a Huntingdonshire primary school.

The story-telling event at Alconbury C of E Primary School was organised by by David Wilson Homes.

Children at the school, which is located near the developer’s Alconbury Weald site, were treated to Christmas-themed tales by experienced storyteller, Mark Fraser.

Stephanie Clitheroe, deputy head at Alconbury C of E Primary School, said: “This was a wonderfully enriching experience for all of our children who were completely mesmerised by Mark’s fabulous storytelling.

"Our thanks go to David Wilson Homes for organising this and Mark for entertaining us."

Mark said: “It was a great privilege to be able to share these wonderful festive stories with the pupils at Alconbury C of E Primary School.

“It always amazes me that children will engage, create and be enraptured by storytelling. It’s brilliant to see large corporate businesses supporting and encouraging such creativity."

The event was part of David Wilson Homes’ outreach programme to help the communities near its developments thrive, and engross younger children in the art of storytelling.

Will Phair, sales director at David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We are thrilled to treat pupils at Alconbury C of E Primary School to a storytelling session for Christmas.

We hope Mark’s brilliant stories will help the children’s excitement grow ahead of the festive period.

“As a leading homebuilder it is important to make a lasting impact in the communities in which we build, and encourage skills such as reading, writing, listening and creativity amongst children.”
