Comics including Russell Kane, Seann Walsh, Josh Widdicombe, Mark Watson and Tommy Tiernan will come to the city for the Cambridge Comedy Festival.

With 26 shows over six days, it is the perfect opportunity to catch some of the world’s finest stand-up comedians presenting previews of their brand new Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows.

From July 15-20, each evening the Cambridge Junction will boast an impressive line-up of comedy circuit favourites with stars such as Andrew Maxwell, Richard Herring, Carl Donnelly, Simon Amstell and Arthur Smith.

The event will kick off with a comedy gala show at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Friday, July 11. On the night, the Jesterlarf Comedy Club will present a ‘best of’ show with headliner Russell Kane. His dynamic, high octane style promises a hilarious set from start to finish. Support comes from Mock the Week regular Gary Delaney, who is ranked alongside Milton Jones as one of the finest one-liner gagsmith’s in the country. Rising star Hayley Ellis, a ‘Funny Women’ finalist, and Phil Wang – a Chortle Award winner and former Cambridge Footlights comedian will also kick off the action.

The compere for the show is circuit veteran and Edinburgh Award winner Dave Johns.

Children will also be able to join in with the fun at the Comedy Club for Kids on Sunday, July 20. Suitable for over 8s, the show will treat youngsters to comedy from top comedians – but without the rude bits. Children’s favourite Jim Smallman, slapstick trio Three Half Pints plus silly pun master Frankie Brickman and award-winning comedian Tom Webb will appear.

The festival was launched in 2007 with the aim of recreating a smaller version of the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival experience in Cambridge.

It promises something for all comedy fans to enjoy with some of the most talked-about comedians in the business.
