Sunday December 1, 2013
2-5pm on the High Street
Festive attractions will include a Christmas market, donkey rides, and a raffle at Buckden's lights switch-on event. Black Cat Radio will be there on the day and visitors can meet Santa in his grotto, before warming up with a glass of mulled wine in the nearby pubs and hotels. The lights will be switched on by one of the village’s unsung heroes, as voted for by residents.

The Big Switch on will run until around 6pm and the lights themselves will be turned on at 5pm in Market Square. There will be entertainment throughout the day with community performances from local dance, music and theatre groups. There will also be entertainment in the Lion Yard, Grand Arcade & Grafton Centre throughout th e afternoon, with the Grafton Centre lights being switched on at midday and the Grand Arcade lig hts will be switched on at 4pm.

The Harpenden Christmas Carnival. The event is held in conjunction with the monthly Farmer's Market. Acts on stage from 12 noon. Procession runs along the High Street at 3pm, and the lights are switched on at 5pm. A Santa's Grotto will be open all day at Thompsons Close.

Peppa Pig, and her porcine pal and younger brother George, will appear at Hatfield's Christmas lights event. There will be music from Knebworth-based radio station Jack FM, fun fair rides, street entertainers and the chance to meet Father Christmas' reindeer. The fun, in Hatfield town centre, starts at noon and the lights will be switched on around 5pm.

Teenage singer-songwriter Gabz Gardiner will be switching the Christmas lights on in Hitchin.
Various entertainment will also be put on during the day, from bands playing music to stalls for people to do their Christmas shopping.

Live music, charity stalls and fairground rides to entertain the family. Acts will include mandolin player Daniel Nesterode, alternative pop band Biscuit for Bears, five-piece band Lucid, acoustic singer Andrew Page, dynamic three-piece band Rhythm and Shoes and Huntingdon Rock Choir. Father Christmas is expected to visit and help the Mayor of Huntingdon with the festive parade and big lights switch-on. Other attractions will include a fairy stilt walker, free balloon models and face painting, magic tricks, festive music, and a crafts sale in the Commemoration Hall ... and not forgetting Peppa Pig. From 12noon-5pm with the festive parade at 4.30pm and the lights switch-on at 4.45pm. The craft fair will run 2-6pm. Father Christmas will be in his grotto at St Benedict's Court.

Outside the Town Hall
5pm - 8.30pm. Lights switch-on 6-7pm.
The switch-on in Godmanchester will include a Christmas market for the first time, featuring more than 20 stalls. On the day, visitors can browse wares such as candles and knitting and they can stop by to learn more about the Brownies and other youth groups. There will also be performances by choirs from St Anne's and Godmanchester Community schools alongside adult choir Harmonia Singers.

Letchworth Garden City

Christmas market, fun day and festive lights switch-on. The market will run from 10am-5pm and include stalls selling a range of products. From 11am-2pm, there will be buskers and street entertainers and throughout the afternoon there will be clips from the Saffron Players, who are busy preparing for their annual pantomime. The presentation of the memorial Flossy Geddy bench will take place on the Common at 2pm, followed by a jazz quartet playing in the market square until 3pm. The Wimbish Military Wives choir will entertain for half-an-hour up to 3.30pm, with four local schools – Clavering, St Mary's, Katherine Semar and Friends' - set to join them in a final carol. Dance and theatre group Pure Rhythm will be involved with some songs and carols, before Hyperfusion perform for 15 minutes until 4pm. At 4pm, there will be a mystery guest to switch on the Christmas lights alongside town mayor Keith Eden.

St Albans

Singing sensation, Gareth Gates, will be joining the Mayor of St Albans to switch on the Christmas lights in St Albans at St Peter's Street.
The Christmas lights switch-on is the culmination of an afternoon of entertainment starting at 12 noon. Local groups and acts, including the Rock Choir and Excel Performing Arts, will be performing live on the stage throughout the afternoon. There will also be a small market with traders selling festive and seasonal goods and a food arena with local restaurants and professional caterers providing festive feasts. Families can also visit Father Christmas at Santa's Grotto. He will be supported by members of the Rotary Club of St Albans Verulamium.

Morning entertainment 9am-12noon. Craft fair from noon. Evening events from 5.30pm, lights switch-on at 6.30pm.
In the morning, organist Neville Palmer and school dance groups will perform at Great Whyte plus there will be stalls to browse. From noon there will be a craft fair at Ramsey Indoor Market. As the night draws in, there will be performances from Ramsey Choral Society, the St Thomas a Becket Church Choir and a troupe of molly dancers, plus a visit from Father Christmas. The lights will be switched on by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's Andie Harper alongside a fireworks display, funfair, and children's disco.

St Ives

A continental market will visit the town as will a funfair. There will also be stage entertainment and Father Christmas will be in his grotto before switching on the lights. St Ives Twinning Association will once again be selling Gluhwein and mince pies and there will be a variety of craft, gift and food stalls. The event will end with a spectacular fireworks finale.
The market and entertainment begins at 10am. Lights to be switched on at 5pm.

St Neots

From 3pm-8pm, with the fairground open until 10pm. Father Christmas will be in his grotto from 5pm and the lights will be switched on at 7pm. Fireworks 7.30pm.
Fire jugglers, magicians, singers, dancers and actors will perform for the crowds in the Market Square. The theme this year is ice and magic and there will be a free synthetic ice rink as well as a fairground, live music and a Christmas market. Father Christmas will be in his grotto at St Neots Museum. The winner of the Young People of the Year Award and headline act The Rockabellas will switch on the lights. The evening will conclude with a dazzling fireworks display. The main event starts at 4pm with Heart fm's Stuart and Natalie. The cast from this year's panto will also take to the stage for the switch-on. The Voice Star, Nadeem Leigh will switch the lights on at 6.30pm with Britain's Got Talent star Gabz Gardiner. The switch-on will be followed by a fireworks display and even a bit of snow!

Welwyn Garden City

The lights will be switched on outside the steps from the Howard Centre entrance. There will be lots of fun for the family with music and entertainment on offer. Festivities start at 3.30pm and the lights will be turned on at 6.30pm.
