Expect a fun-filled family day out when the charity dragon boat race returns to St Neots Summer Festival for the second year running.
Spectators can watch the rowers chopping up the water of the River Great Ouse in a furious battle to the finish line, with a race starting every 10 minutes throughout the day. More than 22 teams from local organisations have entered the challenge to raise money for chosen charity Scope UK, which supports disabled people and their families.
In addition to the spectacular races alongside Regatta Meadow, there will be plenty to keep visitors entertained at the event, which is sponsored by Life Plus Europe Ltd and Bosch Rexroth.
Music will come from artists and songwriters from across Cambridgeshire, with St Neots band The Simpletone giving the closing performance.
The festival boasts a diverse mix of activities for children including face painting, arts, crafts, and games. For the more adventurous there will be the opportunity to play on large inflatables and trampolines.
In addition, guests can enjoy a funfair and browse gift, craft, and charity stalls. A licensed bar will be available on site, which will be open throughout the event.
To top off the day, there will be a dazzling fireworks finale display from the renowned Kimbolton Fireworks.
Melissa Coe, marketing and events coordinator at St Neots Town Council, said: “We hope to make this a continuous event where we can promote one of our town’s striving sports as well as our community of businesses. So bring the whole family to enjoy this jam packed day full of sporting excitement and festival activities. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone.”
