St Ives Swimming Club stars have enjoyed success around the country in recent days.

Ollie Fitt scooped gold and silver medals when competing in the Sheffield Level One Premier Meet at Ponds Forge.

The St Neots-based talent clocked impressive times of 58.36 (heat) and 57.90 (final) en route to victory in the 100m backstroke, and he then finished as runner-up in the 50m event.

Rising star James Quinn became the fastest 13-year-old in the country for the 100m breaststroke following a scorching performance at the Guildford Level One Meet.

Quinn shaved more than three seconds off his lifetime best for his specialist event in Surrey when taking victory in 1:13.79.

Quinn also took 50m breaststroke honours and scooped silver in the 200m version.

Fran Crocker continued the wave of St Ives success when triumphing in a 200m backstroke race at a gala in Norwich.

There was also success for Evan Taylor in the 100m breaststroke at an event in Aldershot, while Brandon MacDonald took the 100m backstroke crown at the Cambridge Open Meet.

He was one of more than 50 St Ives members to compete in that event and the vast majority of them produced bests to demonstrate the club’s strength in depth.
