Some of the region’s top young boxing talent took part in the annual Cambridgeshire Constabulary Amateur Boxing Club dinner show in St Ives recently.
The event, which has been running for 40 years, was held at the Burgess Hall and helped to raise thousands of pounds for the host club, as well as other good causes in Huntingdonshire.
The Rotary Club of Huntingdon Cromwell helped organise the show, which featured 13 bouts involving young boxers from all over East Anglia, including Peterborough,
Trumpington, and March.
There were successes for home fighters Imraan Shirazi and Daniel Henson, against Josh Tanner (March BC) and Josh Loosemore (Grantham BC) respectively.
Clubmate Kieran Cocker also claimed victory by beating Curtis Redford, of Skegness ABC.
Fellow Campol fighters Harrison Milton, Aidan Gillan, and Imran Aref were in action, but all slipped to defeats.
Campol coach Mick Taylor was unable to attend the event owing to ill health but his wife, Christine, was on hand to accept a cheque for £1,500, which will be used to fund training and new equipment for the club.
