ST Ives Town have been draw at home against either Three Bridges or Gresley Rovers in the last 16 of the FA Vase.

The Saints won their tough fourth round proper game away at Tunbridge Wells on Saturday beating their Kent League opponents 1-0 with an 84th minute Stuart Cobb classic.

“It was a great move,” said Hall. “It started with Ozzie Foster and Jamie Alsop overlapped and a defender’s head got to his cross and sent the ball to the back post. where Stuart, steaming in like he usual is.

“It was great: he bundled into the crowd.”

Now Hall and his co-manager Warren Everdell have to wait until Saturday before they know whether it will be Three Bridges from Crawley or Derbyside Midland Football Alliance side Gresley who they will face in the next round; their game ended 0-0 after extra time while Ives and their fans were celebrating their win. The replay will take place in Crawley – and club secretary Simon Clark will be there to watch.

“We have looked at the fixtures,” said Hall, “and there is no way myself and warren will be able to get to see them. So Simon will go and see them next Saturday and report back to us.”

Hall said the game at Tunbridge was a tough one, and singled out goalkeeper Niall Conroy-Owen for a special mention. “He made two excellent saves, one late on – basically, we took our chance and they couldn’t take theirs.”

The Saints have reached the last 16 of the national competition for three of the last four seasons - but have failed to progress further on each occasion.
