ST NEOTS Town have announced the signing of Neil Mackenzie from Blue Square Bet Premier side Tamworth.

The 35-year-old central midfielder made his club debut in Neots’ 2-1 victory over Walton and Hersham last night (Tuesday).

Saints boss Dennis Greene said: “We have had Neil on our radar for some time and once we achieved promotion out of Step 5 we were able to make our move.

“Neil is a very experienced, top quality player who will have a great influence on our young team.”

Chairman Mike Kearns said: “Once again Dennis has come up trumps. Neil is a marquee signing and we are delighted that he decided to join us.”

Mackenzie started his career at Stoke City, making 41 appearances, and has had spells at Cambridge United, Mansfield Town, Scunthorpe United and Notts County before moving to Tamworth, where he played 51 games.
