First home of the 362 participants was Jonatahan Escalante-Phillips, from Cambridge and Coleridge Running Club, who beat last year’s course record by 25 seconds with a time of 34.25.Sarah Caskey was the first female to finish in 42.22.

Race director Paul Veitch said “We had a surge of late entries, which made this year’s race even bigger than last year.

“Conditions were on the warm side again, so we laid on an extra water station at 9k and a number of runners managed PBs in spite of the heat.

“We’ve had so much positive feedback about the marshals and supporters whose enthusiasm cheered the runners the whole way round. I want to add my thanks to all the volunteers.

“This is the third year we have run the race and we expect to raise well over £2,000 for The Hunts Post New Life Appeal.

“The course was designed to show off the best of St Neots, running through the parks alongside the river and it was great to see so many local runners on the entry list.”

Riverside runner Evan Hosking won the 2k Fun Run, which was organised by the 1st St Neots Scouts, who are raising money for two Scouts to go to Japan for the World Jamboree.

The first girl was Emily Wake-Primett.
