There were five wins for Huntingdon Boat Club at the first rowing regatta of the year event.

The club took a range of junior and senior crews to the Leicester Regatta on April 21. 

Huntingdon took part in 10 finals and came away with five wins.

Tom Starling, Joe Hardman, Maksim Marjanovic and Dan Fazackerley went through two rounds in a coxless quad to then go on and win in the final against Nottingham Trent University.

Starling also won in a mixed double scull with Katie Jugg of Isle of Ely beating Loughborough Boat Club.

Two women’s coxed fours both made it to an all Huntingdon final, the victorious crew was Louise Hinkley, Emily Warren-Barratt, Rebecca Howard, Holly Seabrook, coxed by Ollie Shepherd.

They beat the other Huntingdon crew by one length, this boat consisted of Alice Ray, Rachel Starling, Kate Manchett, Imelda Pigg, coxed by Isabella Dovey.

Daniel Grant got through his J15 single sculls to win in the final against Northampton.

Toby Ray won his open singles event going through two rounds to win in the final.

Both Ray and Grant teamed up to row in open double sculls band 1 beating Nottingham Trent University to make the final, only to miss out on a win by one foot against Norwich.

Also rowing on the day, was Ethan Gold J16 single sculls, Isabella Dovey women's J16 single sculls, Jack Bennett and Tom Hancock in J15 double sculls, Rebecca Howard and Ollie Shepherd mixed double sculls.

Charlie Eastoe and James Johnson-Keay both entered J13 single sculls, then doubled up in J14 double sculls moving up a year. Mark Smith and Joe Hardman made it through to the final of open double sculls band 2.
