A family fun day was held at the Sydney Banks Field, in Eynesbury, gave budding sport stars the chance to take on some classic games.

With the nation caught up in Olympic fever last month the youngsters of St Neots were competing for their own gold medals.

Throughout the day, both children and adults took part in a number of races including an old-fashioned egg and spoon race – with a ball replacing the egg - and a hula hooping competition

The event, now in its fourth year, was originally launched to give those who were new to the area the chance to meet their neighbours and other families. was organised by St Mary’s Parish Church and Berkley St Methodist Church, with support from Luminus.

Speaking after the event, the Reverend Deborah Noonan, of St Mary’s Parish Church, said: “The whole day went really well, we had some really great races and it was wonderful to see parents and children doing something together.”

There was also a bouncy castle, a craft table and a treasure hunt around Barford Pocket Park.
