A woman was taken to hospital after suffering injuries during a mugging in Ramsey.

Police said the woman was walking home along an alleyway near Oswald Close on October 7, at about 7pm, when she was approached from behind.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police, said: “An unknown assailant ran up behind her in the dark and grabbed at her handbag which was slung across her shoulder.

“The victim fell to the ground and the robber escaped with the bag, containing the lady’s purse and her mobile phone. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for injuries sustained in the incident.”

The spokesman added that investigations into the incident were on-going. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
