UKIP leader Nigel Farage cancelled a walkabout in St Ives this afternoon (Friday) ahead of a speech at the Burgess Hall.
The MEP was meant to have visited the town centre for an hour’s stroll but cancelled at lunchtime.
Yesterday in Nottingham, a protestor through an egg the politician as he visited the city. The Hunts Post was told that UKIP stopped their plans after police informed the party, they had intelligence that some people had planned to disrupt his walk in St Ives.
UKIP councillor Paul Bullen said it was hard to believe that there would have been any disruption in the town.
Mr Farage said he was shattered after a two-week tour of the country and tired of being heckled while talking to people.
Today is the third time Mr Farage has visited St Ives in as many years, saying Huntingdonshire has been a place UKIP has done “absolutely fantastic work”.
He told The Hunts Post: “It’s like eating roast pork, I always put the crackling to the side so I can have the best to last. I have been on a two-week tour around the country and like the roast, I have saved the best - St Ives - to last.”
