Roads in St Ives town centre will be given a £400,000 revamp in August after Cambridgeshire County Council secured funds for resurfacing.

In mid-August, council contractors will resurface Carlisle Terrace, the Quadrant, Cromwell Place, Oliver Road, Market Road, Cromwell Mews, The Pavement, Market Hill and Sheep Market.

The three-week project will cost about £300,000 and will run alongside work on town centre footpaths.

Work, costing approximately £100,000, will take place on pavements in Oliver Road, the Quadrant, Market Road and the south side of Station Road.

A CCC spokesman said the work will take place during evenings and overnight to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

He also warned that parking may be suspended overnight at some periods.

  • This is fantastic news; Do you think whilst paving the Quadrant you could slip in a little pedestrian crossing as well? it would make it a lot safer crossing that road in the rush hour.
